Sydney Wedding Venues

Your Sydney Wedding Venue: time to choose!

You obviously want the place you choose for your Sydney wedding and reception venue(s) to be amazing, so give the same amount of  thought in choosing it as you did your ideal partner, and remember that, though looks are very important, they aren’t everything! While you don’t want to be too utilitarian, spend some time thinking about the practicalities.

Same or separate venue(s)?

First of all, do you want your Sydney wedding and reception to be in the same place or would you prefer them to be separate; the ceremony to be in a church and then to go on to another venue for the reception. There is lots to consider, whatever you choose.

Have a good look round, first deciding how many guests you are going to have, and what your budget is for the day. Choose the venues that suit your guest numbers and what you can afford and then have your questions ready.

Your Sydney wedding venue: money matters!

  • When does it have to be paid for, and is there a deposit to be paid?
  • What about extra costs? These should be shown in the small(er) print on the contract, so check it out.
  • What if the party runs over? Will that cost extra?
  • What if (heaven forbid) we cancel the wedding? Will there be a charge?

OK, so far, so good, but there’s more to check.

What do these Sydney wedding venues look like?

  • Do you like the style of the venue?
  • Will there be a big enough cloakroom and other facilities?
  • You’re going to have dancing to a band. Is the room big enough?
  • There’s going to be recorded music too. Do they have a sound system?
  • Will there be somewhere for the bride and groom to get changed?
  • Can you have free rein with your Sydney wedding decorations, or do they have a policy on what you are allowed to do?

Food and drink; very important

  • Do they supply the food? If they do, will you like it?  Can you sample it first? Can you bring in your own caterers?
  • Have they got a licence for alcohol? Will they let you supply your own if you pay corkage?
  • Is there a restriction on where you can eat and drink in the venue?

Your Sydney wedding venue: the practicalities

  • What about accessibility? Are all your guests going be able to get about?
  • Where can we take photographs?
  • What about parking?
  • Is it convenient for public transport?
  • You’re getting married outside; what if the weather is bad?
  • Can you have candles or torches?

Your Sydney wedding: separate venues

Check distance, numbers of guests catered for, and whether the venues are of a similar style. Have both venues been hired together before?

Your Sydney wedding: same venue

Check if the wedding venue is separate from that of the reception, if there is enough seating, and, if the same room is used, how long it takes to rearrange it.

Finally…..

If there is anything unusual or really special that you require, check whether this acceptable right at the start.
